The Spanish word Novios translates broadly as "a couple." In the natural world, a coupling of one plus one often seems to add up to more than two. Beyond the obvious romantic meaning, we witness in nature numerous examples of an attraction which joins individuals together in a common purpose for a larger good. As such, coupling is a life-giving force that is basic to the wondrous complexity and beauty of our natural environment. The Novios lamp is an organically inspired, abstract symbol representing this life force.
